Made with cacao beans from Ecuador and candied cupuaçu, this chocolate bar is our first fruit inclusion and it’s a keeper. Cupuaçu (pronounced /ku.ˌpu.a.ˈsu/) is a fruit native to the Amazon rainforest, from the same family of the cacao tree (Theobroma). Its exotic flavor is so difficult to explain that it feels like we are at the pear scene from the movie “City of Angels”. It resembles candied ginger in texture and appearance, has a cocoa-meets-pineapple scent and a tangy, fruity flavor with a delightful sweetness. Difficult to explain, but easy to eat it all.
